Amazing Love

First of all I'm going to tell you a story from the point of view of a man who loved his son more than anything:
"I was driving home from work one night, listening to the news. Apparently two people had died in China from a deadly disease. I thought nothing of it of course. Two people in China? Who cares?"
The next time I listened to the news I heard that a further thousand people had suddenly been taken ill by this killer disease that they were calling killer flu. But these people weren't just from China, the killer flu had spread to Russia and the other surrounding countries. Stil not England though, so I didn't dwell on it for long. But the next time, I heard the killer flu had spread again to America and Europe, two people in England had the killer flu. Millions were dying all over the world...and suddenly it didn't seem so trivial anymore.
Over the next week 2 million more people caught the flu and half were in England! Doctors and scientists were calling on the people to all go to their nearest surgery for a blood test to see if they could possibly be the key to curing the world.
Many people flocked to have their blood test. I took my wife and son along too, so that we could have a blood test; anything to stop the spread of this terrible illness."I had my test first but and then my wife and, lastly, my son. Then we went back home to await results...
A couple of days later we received a phone call from the surgery."Amazing news!" announced the doctor to us "We have found the perfect blood match! Your son's blood is the purest we have ever seen!" We were delighted at the discovery and rushed straight to the hospital where they would take some of our son's blood and cure the nations."We got there and all the doctors and nurses were practically leaping for joy. We began to fill in the medical form when I noticed the amount of blood needed was not specified."How much blood do you need?" I asked the doctor. His smile disappeared."We...we didn't realise it would be a child..." he began."How much?""Well...we...we need...all of it! I'm so sorry. You don't have to do this but nobody else in the world has this blood type. Your son is the only one who can save us all.""We wept, of course.
This was the hardest decision we had ever had to make. But nobody else would do...it had to be our son. So we signed the form. It was done.We spent his last minutes with him. He didn't understand, he was too young."What's going to happen Daddy? When are we going home?""Soon." We said "Soon."But he wouldn't be coming home with us."Soon the doctor came back,"I'm so sorry." He said, "I must ask you to leave now." That was the last time we ever saw our precious son. The world was cured, everybody so happy and relieved.
They gave a huge public funeral for our son. But few people came, and those that did merely sat there, looking bored. I wanted to shout at them."DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? MY SON IS DEAD! HE DIED FOR YOU! DON'T YOU APPRECIATE THAT? AREN'T YOU GRATEFUL TO HIM FOR GIVING HIS LIFE? DON'T YOU EVEN CARE?"But they didn't. The world was saved, they would life, they didn't care who died to get that for them."
This story is obviously not true but it is based on a true story.
That story is about Jesus.
God gave up his son to save us from sin and Hell and to show us how much he loved us.Won't you return that love and that God today for what he did?So many people just don't care they take life for granted, like the people in the story.
So the first part of God's big love letter, the Bible, that I am going to put on here is probably the most well known verse in the Bible but that doesn't necessarily mean that everybody understands its full meaning. Here it is:
For God so loved the world,
he gave his only son;
that whoever believes in him
may have eternal life.J
ohn Chapter 3 Verse 16
I think this verse is amazingly meaningful. It shows just how much God loves us. Even to give his only son to save us!
